professional Goals

Complete a Dietetic Internship

My goal within my first year of graduating is to secure a dietetic internship, which is a critical step in becoming a Registered Dietitian. I also plan to apply to accredited programs that align with my interests in clinical and sports nutrition. With an internship, I aim to strengthen my skills in areas such as medical nutrition therapy, patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This hands-on experience will allow me to put into practice the knowledge I’ve gained at SDSU and prepare me to take the RD exam with confidence. Completing the internship within a year of graduation will keep me on track toward earning my credentials and beginning my career in dietetics.

Participate in nutrition outreach programs

Nutrition equity is something I care deeply about, and I want to give back to communities like the ones I’ve worked with through Project New Village. Within the next few years, I plan to volunteer with or lead programs that provide culturally competent nutrition education, promote food security, or support healthy eating habits in underserved populations. This work will allow me to make a positive impact outside of clinical or sports settings and stay connected to the community side of nutrition.

Receive CSSD

As someone who is passionate about fitness and performance nutrition, earning the CSSD credential is a key milestone in my professional development. This board certification will give me the credibility to work with athletes and active individuals. To qualify, I plan to accumulate at least 2,000 hours of documented practice in sports nutrition by working with athletic programs, fitness centers, or collegiate teams. Achieving the CSSD will not only validate my specialized skills but also expand my career opportunities in the field of sports nutrition.
