Frida Escobedo Perez is a senior at San Diego State University majoring in Food and Nutrition with a minor in Spanish. She is a proud San Diego native with strong family roots in Zacatecas, Mexico. With her background, Frida is able to provide a multicultural perspective to her passion for nutrition and health. Her journey into dietetics began with her own experiences navigating health and wellness, which sparked a deep interest in building positive, balanced relationships with food. This personal insight fuels her desire to support others who may be facing similar challenges, particularly in communities that value cultural identity and holistic well-being. Additionally, one of Frida’s favorite classes at SDSU was Introduction to Food

Science, where she discovered a love for the chemistry and nutrient profiles of everyday foods—from vegetables to desserts. This course solidified her decision to pursue a career in nutrition. Frida has gained valuable communication and customer service skills as a sales representative for T-Mobile, consistently exceeding sales goals in fast-paced, high-demand environments. Her ability to connect with others was also evident in her volunteer work with Project New Village’s Mobile Farmers Market. She helped bridge language and accessibility gaps by providing Spanish translations and promoting the benefits of fresh produce to community members. Looking ahead, Frida aspires to work in clinical settings and pursue a career as a sports Registered Dietitian. She is interested in using her future clinical knowledge and experience to support athletes and active individuals in elevating their performances through nutrition. Outside of academics and work, Frida enjoys long-distance running, going to concerts, homemade spicy tuna sushi rolls, and spending time with friends. She has always been active and has enjoyed participating in all kinds of sports like swimming, running, dance, color guard, and soccer throughout her life.
